Vietnamese Government Expands E-Visa

Vietnam to issue e-visas to citizens of all countries for entry from August 15, with 13 airports, 16 land border gates, and 13 seaports accepting the e-visas. The government also extends temporary residence permits to 45 days for citizens of 13 countries that Vietnam unilaterally exempts visas for: Germany, France, Italy, Spain, UK, Ireland, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland.

Vietnamese Government Expands E-Visa Eligibility and Duration

The National Assembly has handed over a list of countries and territories whose citizens are granted visas and a list of international border gates that permit foreigners to enter and exit using e-visas. The government and businesses expect that expanding the scope and duration of e-visas will provide significant leverage for attracting tourism, investment, business cooperation, and scientific research.

Currently, the Immigration Management Department issues e-visas to foreign nationals through an electronic transaction system, which is valid for a single entry. Prior to the resolution, Vietnam granted e-visas to citizens of 80 countries.

The Vietnamese government has recently announced an expansion of its e-visa program, which will make it easier for travelers to obtain travel permits and stay longer in the country. The changes to the e-visa program come as part of Vietnam’s ongoing efforts to promote tourism and attract more visitors to the country.

Under the new regulations, citizens from 80 countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, and most European Union nations, are now eligible to apply for e-visas to visit Vietnam. Previously, only citizens from 46 countries were eligible for e-visas. The expanded list of eligible countries is expected to increase the number of tourists visiting Vietnam and boost the country’s economy.

Additionally, the duration of the e-visas has been extended from 30 days to 60 days, giving travelers more time to explore the country. This change is particularly beneficial for those who wish to take longer trips or engage in activities such as volunteering or studying abroad.

To apply for an e-visa, travelers need to complete an online application form and pay a fee of $25. Once approved, the e-visa will be sent directly to the traveler’s email address within three working days. The process is quick and easy, making it an attractive option for travelers who want to avoid long lines and paperwork at traditional visa offices.

Furthermore, the new e-visa system also allows travelers to enter the country through eight international airports, 13 land crossings, and seven seaports, making it more convenient for travelers to access Vietnam from neighboring countries such as Cambodia and Laos.

Overall, the expansion of the Vietnamese e-visa program is a positive development for both the tourism industry and travelers. It simplifies the visa application process, increases the duration of stays, and expands accessibility to more countries and entry points. These changes are expected to further boost Vietnam’s tourism industry and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
