Vietnam Visa for Kiribati Citizens A Comprehensive Guide

Vietnam, a land of captivating history, stunning landscapes, and vibrant culture, welcomes visitors from around the world. For individuals from Kiribati seeking to explore the wonders of Vietnam, understanding the visa requirements is essential for a smooth and hassle-free travel experience. This comprehensive guide provides in-depth information on the Vietnam visa process, types of visas, fees, and other crucial details for Kiribati citizens.

Exploring Vietnam’s Visa Policy for Kiribati Nationals: Types, Fees, and Application Process

To enter Vietnam visa for Kiribati citizens must obtain a visa unless they are eligible for visa-free travel. The type of visa required depends on the purpose and duration of the intended stay. Here are the three main types of visas available for Kiribati citizens:

1. Tourist Visa

  • Purpose: For leisure, sightseeing, and holiday activities.
  • Validity: Single entry for 30 days or multiple entries for 30 days or 90 days.
  • Fees: Starting from US$25, depending on the embassy/consulate and processing time.

The tourist visa is the most common type of visa for travelers visiting Vietnam. It allows Kiribati citizens to enter the country for tourism purposes such as sightseeing, visiting friends and family, or participating in cultural activities. The tourist visa can be obtained through two methods: applying for a visa approval letter or obtaining a visa on arrival.

Visa Approval Letter

A visa approval letter is a document issued by the Vietnamese Immigration Department that allows Kiribati citizens to pick up their visa upon arrival at one of the international airports in Vietnam. To obtain a visa approval letter, Kiribati citizens can apply online through a reputable visa agency. The process is simple and requires filling out an application form, submitting a scanned copy of the passport, and paying the service fee. The visa approval letter will be sent via email within 2-3 business days.

Upon arrival at the airport, Kiribati citizens must present the visa approval letter, a completed entry and exit form, two passport-sized photos, and the stamping fee in cash (US$25 for single entry, US$50 for multiple entries). After paying the fee, the immigration officer will issue the visa stamp on the passport, allowing entry into Vietnam.

Visa on Arrival

Kiribati citizens can also obtain a visa on arrival at one of the international airports in Vietnam. This option is only available for those traveling by air. To apply for a visa on arrival, Kiribati citizens must submit an online application form and pay the service fee. Upon arrival, they must present the approval letter, entry and exit form, photos, and stamping fee to receive the visa stamp.

2. Business Visa

  • Purpose: Attending business meetings, conferences, negotiations, or conducting business activities.
  • Validity: Single entry or multiple entries for 30 days, 90 days, or 180 days.
  • Fees: Starting from US$50, varying based on the embassy/consulate and processing time.

The business visa is suitable for Kiribati citizens who are traveling to Vietnam for business purposes such as attending meetings, conferences, or conducting business activities. Similar to the tourist visa, the business visa can be obtained through a visa approval letter or upon arrival at the airport.

Visa Approval Letter

To obtain a visa approval letter for a business visa, Kiribati citizens must provide additional documents such as an invitation letter from a Vietnamese company, a business registration certificate, or a work permit. The process and fees are the same as obtaining a tourist visa approval letter.

Visa on Arrival

Kiribati citizens can also obtain a business visa on arrival at the airport. However, they must provide the same additional documents as mentioned above. The process and fees are also the same as obtaining a tourist visa on arrival.

3. Work Visa

  • Purpose: Employment or conducting professional activities in Vietnam.
  • Validity: Single entry or multiple entries for 30 days, 90 days, or 180 days.
  • Fees: Starting from US$100, varying based on the embassy/consulate and processing time.

The work visa is required for Kiribati citizens who wish to work or conduct professional activities in Vietnam. This type of visa requires a sponsor in Vietnam, such as an employer or a business partner, to apply on behalf of the applicant at the Vietnamese Immigration Department. The work visa can only be obtained through a visa approval letter and is not available on arrival.

Simplified Travel: Visa Waiver Programs for Kiribati Passport Holders Visiting Vietnam

Kiribati citizens holding diplomatic or official passports are exempt from obtaining a visa for stays of up to 90 days. However, for regular passport holders, there are currently no visa exemption programs between Vietnam and Kiribati. Therefore, all Kiribati citizens must obtain a visa before traveling to Vietnam.

However, Kiribati citizens holding regular passports may be eligible for a visa exemption if they hold a valid visa or residence permit from one of the following countries:

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Japan
  • New Zealand
  • South Korea
  • United States

In this case, the visa exemption allows Kiribati citizens to stay in Vietnam for up to 15 days without a visa. After the 15-day period, they must obtain a visa to continue their stay.
