The War Remnants Museum, the Independence Palace, and the Cu Chi Tunnels, which is 70km northwest of downtown HCM City, are war-related sites popular among visitors.
HCM City was named among the 15 fastest-growing tourist cities in the world by Travelsupermarket website, which has forecast that Vietnam’s biggest city will welcome 10.2 million international tourists by 2025.
It welcomed 2.25 million foreign visitors in the first quarter of 2019, equal to 27 percent of this year’s target and making up half the foreign arrivals in Vietnam in the period, according to the HCM City Department of Tourism.
